AG-SAMP.LT
Community forum and game add-on for a Lithuanian multiplayer server — my first real users.
The challenge
The community lived inside the game but had no home outside it. Agreements, rules and disputes were spread across chats nobody could read back.
At the same time the game itself lacked what a growing group needs: traceable moderation, statistics, and routines that do not start from scratch on every server restart.
The solution
Two systems, one database: a forum in the browser and an add-on inside the game, sharing the same accounts and the same state.
A forum for the community
PHP and MySQL: registration, threads, moderation. The first code used not by me but by strangers — and with it my first lesson in what happens when you trust input.
An add-on for the gamemode
Scripts extending the server with custom routines, roles and statistics, storing their state in the same database as the forum.
Running it with real users
Three years of updates, bug reports from the community and changes that had to ship in the evening, because that was when people played.
